Lahore suicide explosion kills at least 25

LAHORE:(M.A TABASSUM) A suicide explosion in historical city of Lahore on Monday claimed the lives of at least 25 persons and wounded 49 others, BBC ASIA reported.

The bomb blast took place near the Arfa Kareem Tower. A building was being demolished when the incident took place.

Minister for Primary Health Punjab Imran Nazir confirmed that least 25 people have lost their lives in the blast while 49 others sustained injuries. A local SHO has confirmed that the blast was of suicidal nature.

Large number of ambulance reached the scene and the wounded persons were shifted to different medical facilities for treatment of their injuries.

A car and 10 motorcycles were destroyed in the explosion.

An active regiment of Pakistan Army has reached the blast site.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed grief and sadness over the loss of lives and condemned the incident in strong words.

Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has sought the report of the incident from the police department. He said that the best medical facilities will be provided to the wounded persons.
